Idaho Suicide Cleanup Facts

Idaho has a tragic statistic of suicide being the leading cause of death in people between the ages of 15 to 44, and is the 2nd leading cause of death between the ages of 45-54. There are an average of over 400 suicides per year in Idaho leaving many family members with so many unanswered questions. But loved ones are left with another tragedy, a major cleanup that they must face, further traumatizing them.

When a suicide, homicide, serious trauma or undiscovered death occurs in a residence, automobile, hotel, or business once the police and coroner leave, what happens then? Any blood, bodily fluids or even crime scene investigation items are the responsibility of the family or property owner to professional clean. With diseases like Hepatitis which can live outside of the body for days, there should be great concern about how the scene is cleaned. Trust in the professionals at Steri-Clean who have cleaned several thousand suicide scenes since 1995. Our local Sun Valley Headquarters office, which oversees all of Idaho Steri-Clean operations, is run by the original founder of Steri-Clean, and retired fire Captain and paramedic, Cory Chalmers. His knowledge of biohazard scenes and proper disinfection is key in the success of Steri-Clean nationwide, as well as all of their customers who trust in us to provide affordable help in their time of need.

Laws in Idaho Regulating Suicide Clean Up

There are currently no laws in Idaho outlining how a suicide or other blood cleanup should be performed. However, there are federal laws that outline protective gear, training, and other particulars that must be followed by any company or person getting paid to clean a trauma or death scene. Disposal of biohazardous waste is also regulated and should not be disposed of at a landfill or transfer station. Proper packaging of affected/soiled contents, then proper disposal with a licensed medical waste facility should be done by a trained biohazard or suicide clean up company in Idaho. Steri-Clean uses a medical waste company in Boise, ID to dispose of all collected and generated biohazardous waste.
